Fresh off his acclaimed work in the small-scale family drama "In The Bedroom," Nick Stahl has been selected to star alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in "T3: Rise Of The Machines."
Variety reports that Stahl, 22, will appear in the third "Terminator" movie as John Connor, the future leader of the human race in a revolt against mechanized tyrants. The role was originated in "Terminator 2: Judgement Day" by Edward Furlong.
Stahl played the son of co-stars Sissy Spacek and Tom Wilkinson in "In The Bedroom." His character's affair with a recently separated woman (Marisa Tomei) triggers violence that overturns the family's orderly life.
Schwarzenegger returns as the heroic cyborg, while Kristanna Loken ("Panic") plays a lethal female edition of the Terminator. Jonathan Mostow ("U-571") directs.
Variety said Stahl recently completed work on "Bookies," opposite Rachel Leigh Cook and Lukas Haas. He also appears in the upcoming HBO pilot "Carnivale."
