Arnold Schwarzenegger says that the script for 'Terminator 5' should be finished later this year, and that it's now on the right track.

The Austrian Oak added that there had been concerns over the script's direction, but its new writers -as announced last week- are on top of it.

"They're writing right now Terminator 5," he said in an interview with The Sun. "There have been some writers on it for the last year-and-a-half and they could not pull it off."

"We have told them over and over that they are going in the wrong direction, now they've finally got rid of those writers and they've got new really quality writers."

"Now they're going in the right direction. I think this year the script will be finished and we will be able to go into pre-production."

While Arnie won't be the focus of the story, it's expected that he will appear.

Last week it emerged that 'Avatar' producer Laeta Kalogridis is on board writing, the scribe behind Scorsese's 'Shutter Island' and Oliver Stone's 'Alexander'.

'Star Trek Into Darkness' producer David Ellison and sister Megan, who produced 'The Master' and 'Zero Dark Thirty', will bring the fifth instalment to the screen.

The comeback of his cyborg assassin can't come too soon, however.

Arnie's latest film, 'The Last Stand', his first starring role in a decade following his diversion into politics, has flopped disastrously in the US, only reaching number 10 in the box office chart.
