Four Salvation rumours cleared up
|
|
|
Talking with Total Film, Terminator Salvation director McG addressed the four major rumors out there about the new reboot
of the franchise with Christian Bale starring. Below is each rumor, followed by what McG had to say about them.
Rumor #1 - The ending posted on Ain't It Cool News is a fake
Remember the leaked ending that hit AICN five months ago? The one that claimed the climax would see John Connor die,
only to be resurrected as a robot?
It isn't the ending (thank goodness) but the geeks didn't pluck it from the clear blue Skynet, either. "That is not
the ending. John Connor is not the machine. We did discuss that idea, but that is not the ending, I can say that right now."
Rumor #2 - James Cameron did not give McG his blessing
There's been a lot of net chatter about McG's Comic Con claims that James Cameron gave his blessing for Terminator
Salvation's creation. Well, it seems McG may have misquoted himself. We gave him the opportunity to set the record
straight.
"I did go to see James Cameron. He didn't give us his blessing, but he didn't shit all over our movie. When Jim was
making Alien, he was following the great Ridley Scott, so he knows how we feel."

Rumor #3 -Christian Bale did have doubts about signing up
When Christian Bale was at the rumour stage for TS you couldn't move for fanboys claiming he'd never sign up for
another franchise. It seems that he nearly didn't.
"I met Christian when he was shooting The Dark Knight. He told me to fuck right off, he didn't want to do it. He said,
'Write it so that it could be read cold on stage and I'll think about doing it.'"
Rumor #4 - Arnie will appear... probably
When shots of Arnie hanging out on the Salvation set were shoved into all of our computers, the internet exploded with
rumour. Was Schwarzenegger there to film a cameo? Give his blessing? Try and get a cut of the profits?
Well, we'd bet our Terminator 2 action figure collection that we know the real reason. He was there to get motion
captured for his all CGI debut as the T800.
"We're trying to synthesise a human character with a CGI character and that may or may not have something to do with
the T800," McG told us with a smile. The process isn't without its problems, though. McG isn't happy with ILM's work
so far... "At the moment it's not good enough," he said. "And we're running out of time."
