About the rumours? They're just that!
|
|
|
God. One has to love the niftyness of the internet. Word of mouth from one unknown source and look and behold, in just
a few days this 'news' had spread on lots of sites that promote the T:SCC show in one way or another (the good AND the bad).
The rumour of a possible shutdown of the series, to better other programming? They're just that!
First and foremost, another source of a more reliant website has given remarks about the rumours. Then the super fansite
SarahConnorSociety.net posted some interesting bits on why the monday night slot is soo difficult and why the show could
have become what it is today... and yet other sources keep reporting the rumours. As did we, by the way, soo I hope people
don't hold it against us. T:SCC is here to stay, for now.
Ooh... and be sure to scroll down to the bottom, for two exclusive clips from the new episode!
Sarah Connor Wouldn't Give Up On You. So Don't Give Up On Her
Source: www.io9.com
Rumors have been zooming around cyberspace that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has been axed. It's like some kind
of Skynet plot. Some have even suggested the show is stopping production early. We checked with sources at Fox, and got the
straight dope: the fight against mean robots goes on, for now.
"The rumors are all speculative and never fact checked with the network or studio," says a Fox rep. Here's the actual
situation: Fox has ordered 13 episodes of Sarah Connor season two, and those episodes are still in production. The network
has not yet made a decision, one way or another, about whether to order the remaining nine episodes of the season, says
the rep. It's not clear how soon this decision has to be made, but there's still some breathing room.
Sadly, it's true that SCC's ratings haven't been great this season, along with most other Monday night dramas. The cast
blames Monday Night Football, and other observers have blamed the fact that the strike shortened last year's seasons and
people have lost touch with these shows. The most recent Terminator episode garnered only about 5.25 million viewers.
So if you love this show as much as we do, now would be a great time to get your friends to watch it — especially if they
have primitive Nielsen box technology in their homes.

The difficulty of the show being that it is shown on one of the busiest night on television. There is soo much to see that
people have to decide what they want to see and what not. But as reported before, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
turned out to be in the top three of DVRed shows, soo all those people interested could still watch their show later on at
night or the next day, or the next.
Word from SarahConnorSociety.net about this problematic monday timeslot...
Why Are Monday Night Series Slipping In The Ratings?
Source: www.sarahconnorsociety.net, Erika Blake
If you've been wondering why I haven't been posting any of the "news stories" that TSCC is going to be canceled, it's because
I take pride in the fact that my team doesn't post rumors and scandal crap on our site, I refuse to further someone else's
agenda to wreck havoc amongst fans of this show and get them into a fervor for no reason.
I found this great article on CinemaBlend
that talks about the horror that is Monday night for it's ratings.
Here's a part of the article that I like the most...
So what's the problem? Here's my first thought. There are two nights during the week when my TiVo is packed and I
have to decide which shows I'm going to DVR (with a dual-tuner that allows me to record two shows at once) and which
I'm going to have to watch via Hulu.com or some other online format: Monday's and Thursdays. This season on Mondays
during the 8 PM hour, I watch HIMYM and SCC and catch Chuck online. At 9 I watch Heroes. It's not really a complaint
that there are too many worth-watching series on TV on Monday night but I can understand how that might present a
problem for other viewers, especially those who don't have DVRs or access to streaming episodes online.
The series that are probably going to suffer the most are newer shows that already took a hit when the strike cut
short their debut seasons. Chuck and Terminator: SCC, for example, both had short seasons last year (or in SCC's
case, earlier this year). Neither series had a full season to gain some solid momentum. Add that to the fact that
they air on different networks at the same time (Mondays, 8:00 PM ET). Then go ahead and add that to the fact that
both of them are likely to be targeting similar audiences (action geeks, scifi geeks, geek-geeks) and is it any
wonder that both are having ratings-issues right now? As a self-proclaimed geek, I had a hard time choosing which
of the two series I want to watch as it airs and which I'll watch later on.
The problem isn't the quality of TSCC - this season the show has been amazing, but rather like AllergyGal just posted
in our forums, the problem is that TSCC started off as an action show and has turned into a thinking person's program
this season and having it slammed into a jam packed night of TV viewing where you want to try to absorb watching as
many shows as possible, it's just not getting the attention and justice that it deserves in live viewings, which is
probably why it's rating so high for DVR numbers and why it's so huge on the downloads on iTunes and Amazon - people
can watch it over and over at their own leisure and pace. As my sister Kate says, TSCC is the heir to BATTLESTAR
GALACTICA, it's the only show on network TV that's true hard science and it just keeps getting better, and smarter.
PRISON BREAK, CHUCK, and HEROES are shows that you can watch brain-dead, enjoy, and move onto the next show, Terminator
makes you stop and go WTF? and want to think about the episode long afterwards - the last thing you want to have to do
is try to absorb everything that you just watched and then move onto something else because there are other shows that
grab your fancy on the same night.
TSCC deserves a new night AND a better more appropriate show to be partnered with (*Cough*Hint*BONES*Hint*Cough.) Wed
at 9 would be a great time-slot for TSCC because there aren't any other shows on the other networks that are similar
in programming content for it to compete against. Folks who like BONES also like TSCC and would happily just hang
around to watch it. I don't know about you, but considering there is ZERO Sci-Fi programming on at 9 on Wednesdays,
I have nothing to watch at that time - there's room for TSCC there and I'd imagine that it's ratings would climb
without being thrown into the huge lion den that is Monday night. Fox can easily throw repeats of Family Guy or The
Simpsons in the 8PM hour and Prison Break would still maintain its ratings. TSCC needs to be moved to a time that is
less congested and it needs to paired with a show that is more cerebral and has an already similar fan base (both have
Whedonverse appeal.) TSCC being paired with BONES is the simple answer to the ratings problem and will make ITS fans
HAPPY.
Until we hear what Fox intends to do with the show, we all have to continue to do our part. Don't feed into rumors, I
can tell you this much the rumors that Fox is going to stop production on the show and not ordering more episodes are
100% off the mark and false. They're filming the last ordered episodes right now, if you visit our forums, we've got
some previews of promo photos for episode 02×06 The Tower is Tall but the Fall is Short. Even though the show will be
going on hiatus after next week's ep, it's because of baseball playoffs - nothing else. Perhaps at that time Fox will
re-evaluate where they put the show and move it to a new night, this site definitely supports that action and we'll
work on seeing what we can do about spreading the word for that.
Until we learn what's going on goto every board that you post on and talk up how awesome this season is of TSCC and
watch it live. Tell your friends to watch it live. Pay attention to the commercials and go out and buy the products
that the advertisers are promoting. Finally, DVR the show, buy it on iTunes or Amazon Unboxed, and keep your chin up.
We love this show, the quality is through the roof this season, WE can keep it alive because remember FATE IS NOT A
CHOICE.
Keep your chins up folks, like TSCC the future is not set yet, keep supporting it, keep chatting it up, we've only got
better episodes ahead of us, lets do everything that WE can to show Josh and his team that we appreciate all that they're
creating for us.
