Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles returning for second season!

FOX has greenlit a second season of the franchise series, picking up 13 new episodes. Hollywood Reporter and Variety report on its renewel.

Fox has greenlit a second season of the franchise series, picking up 13 episodes for next season. Move wasn't a surprise; Fox has been developing potential companion series to the sci-fi hour-long, and in meetings with advertisers have discussed several potential scheduling scenarios that include the show.

Pickup was also a no-brainer, as "Sarah Connor" reps one of the year's most successful frosh entries - averaging a 4.4 rating and 10 share among adults 18-49, as well as 10.5 million viewers overall.

The series, a spin-off of the successful "Terminator" film franchise, revolves around a woman and her son battling futuristic robots. Lena Headey stars as Sarah Connor, while Thomas Dekker plays her son, John. Richard T. Jones stars as FBI aent James Ellison, while Summer Glau plays Cameron.

Warner Bros. TV is behind "Sarah Connor," which is exec produced by Josh Friedman and John Wirth.

Fox has picked up "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" for a second season. The network on Monday handed a 13-episode order to the sci-fi drama, an extension of the "Terminator" feature franchise that centers on Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) and her son, John (Thomas Dekker), as they battle enemies from the future with the help of a goodhearted terminator, Cameron (Summer Glau).

"Terminator," from Warner Bros. TV, which launched in January, is the highest-rated new scripted series this season among adults 18-49 with an average of 4.4 rating/10 share. It drew an average of 10.5 million total viewers.
