No salvation for T4

No more Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins (finally!)

Finally some positive news from the development for the new Terminator movie. Yeah, sorry... this sounds a bit harsh, but can you even start to imagine how we, and lots of fans around us, felt about this previous suggested title? Well. No more!

Warner Bros has appearenly deciced to drop their initial title Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, for eeuhrm... nothing.

MovieWeb.com reports:

"Warner Bros. Pictures has apparently dropped the previous coined title, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins for the next film in the Terminator franchise."

"The film, directed by McG, will reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-movie span. The film is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind. So far, Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) and Sam Worthington (Avatar) have been cast in the film."

"Terminator 4 is set for release on May 22nd, 2009."

EmpireOnline.com reports

"ComingSoon.net is reporting that the new Terminator film, which has until recently been titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, is now title-less."

"The film, with McG directing and Sam Worthington and Christian Bale starring, is due out in May 2009, so there's still quite a lot of time to come up with a new title (say, Terminator 4), and frankly practically anything would be more convenient than the apparently nixed Salvation: The Future Begins idea."

"We like to think that this is all down to Empire's efforts here to dissuade studios from using lengthy, clumsy monikers for franchise films, but in any case we'll be watching to see what they come up with next. So what would your vote be for a new name?"

Well, 'dissuade' we have too...

As mentioned in every article about Terminator 4, we at TerminatorFiles have always said that this was not that good of an title. Most fans that have contacted us in many bundles at a time agreed with us, though they also did not feel good about possible alternative titles we gave in our articles, on the forums, blogs spread online and other sources, give or take articles on our site saying it was either a shitty or idiotic title.

It might even be possible that Warner Bros. has listened to the many online sources, including ours? Its nice to think that we have some control over what the new movie would/could be about... at least with its title. But now they've decided to make the entire project title-less.

Well... Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins has been dropped. But we still think a new possible title should at least include references to all the previous movies. OK... the first might have been called The Terminator, but it was originally never intended to become a saga of movies... so we'll leave that one out (though it too, has been referenced to be called T1 through this and many a online source online).

Then we have Terminator 2: Judgment Day, with the number two behind the title, and a second part 'Judgment Day' and its abbriviation 'T2'. And then there was Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, again with the number three behind the title, and a second part 'Rise of the Machines' and its abbriviation 'T3'. Need we say more?

In lenght of that we have come across many possible names, to name but a few...
  • Terminator 4: Salvation, aka T4:S
  • Terminator 4: The Future Begins, aka T4:TFB
  • ... and all of them abbriviated to the simple T4
  • ... and all of them in length with the previous films (T1 through to T6)

Thanx to 'r3d' and 'Sebultura' for the heads up!
