Termination, animated series announced

Consulting Producer of the new Terminator movie, James Middleton, and actress Lena Headey recently participated in
a press conference and revealed a few details about plans for the long-running movie and TV franchise.
When quizzed about the new TV show, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, it was revealed that the series
establishes itself in an alternate timeline to the one seen in Terminator 3.
An animated tie-in (currently called Termination) is also planned, with a release scheduled for sometime after
the new film hits cinemas in late summer 2009. The show will feature a number of short animated features from
different areas of the Terminator universe.
Middleton also recently told SCI FI Wire that California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
will definitely not be in the forthcoming new movie or any of the planned sequels in what is expected to be a new
trilogy of films.
Middleton said Schwarzenegger was approached about a possible role or cameo before he was elected to the governorship,
but the former actor declined the offer.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is a post-apocalyptic tale focusing on central character John Connor.
The movie, set after the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, will also introduce a key new character into
the Terminator Universe. The character is not thought to be original future soldier Kyle Reese (played by Michael
Biehn in the original film).
Batman star Christian Bale is rumored to be in line for the role of Conner, with Vin Diesel in line for the role of
the new Terminator.
T3 writers Michael Ferris and John D. Brancato penned the script for Terminator Salvation, which will be helmed by
McG. Production begins in April for a 2009 release.

Terminator 4 rumors addressed (source)
James Middleton, an associate producer on the upcoming fourth Terminator film, told SCI FI Wire that California governor
Arnold Schwarzenegger will definitely not be in the movie or any of the contemplated sequels in what is expected to be
a new trilogy of films.
Middleton also disputed earlier reports about the role of John Connor, saying that the character will definitely be
central in the film, titled Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Middleton said that the movie will also introduce
a key new character.
"It's post-apocalyptic," Middleton said in an interview at Los Angeles' Golden Apple comic shop, where he was promoting
the upcoming FOX TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (Middleton is a consulting producer on the show).
"It's set after the events of [Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines], where we see the nuclear exchange at the end of the
movie, and we show what the world is like after this event, and we show how people try to deal in a post-apocalyptic
world," Middleton added. "And we introduce a new character, who becomes very important to the resistance and to John
Connor, a new hero. It's really about the birth of a new hero."
As for John Connor, who was played in T3 by Nick Stahl: "I would look at him as a character that is introduced and that
will grow in the second and third movies of the trilogy," Middleton said.
Middleton also confirmed the casting of Batman Begins star Christian Bale in the film. It's been reported that he will
take on the role of John Connor.
With regard to Schwarzenegger, Middleton said the original cyborg was approached about a possible role or cameo before
he was elected to the governorship of the Golden State.
"He has been approached, and in the early days of our development of T4, one of our producers, Andy Vajna, who's a good
friend of his, spoke to him about doing a cameo," Middleton said. "This was even before he was governor. But we know now
that he is governor, he's got priorities that are above doing movies." There is no possibility of Schwarzenegger appearing
in Terminator Salvation or subsequent films as long as he is governor, Middleton added.
T3 writers Michael Ferris and John D. Brancato penned the script for Terminator Salvation, which will be helmed by McG.
"We're in active preproduction," Middleton said. "We hope that the [writers'] strike ends soon so we can do a rewrite,
but we're planning on going into production in April [21]."
What about the new character? Contrary to some speculation, it won't be Kyle Reese, the character from the first film who
was played by Michael Biehn and who goes on to father John Connor, Middleton said. Terminator Salvation is slated to hit
theaters in 2009.
