Bale confirmed negotiating, but who is Marcus?
|

Hollywood Reporter confirms that Bale is in negotiation in joining the cast for the next slated Terminator Salvation:
The Future Begins (aka Terminator 4) movie. Nothing new to us, since the rumours hit the internet just a week ago, but
there are some other interesting facts (or gossip) contained with the original article. Who (or what) is this Marcus
figure?!
As with the previous news, this is instantly picked up by many other great news sites, of which some even add some info
of of their own sources; according to Entertainment Weekly, the project has not even been officially green-lit... What to
think, what to think. Check the red text within the articles for these and other interesting references.

"Christian Bale is in negotiations to star in 'Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins,' the fourth installment of the
hit science fiction series. McG is in negotiations to direct the movie, which is being made by the Halcyon Co. and will
be distributed by Warner Bros."
"The series, which originated from filmmaker James Cameron and made Arnold Schwarzenegger a star, centered on a robot from
the future where machines wage war against humanity, whose goal was to kill Sarah Connor, the mother of the future leader
of the human resistance. As the movies progressed, the son, played by Edward Furlong in 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' and
Nick Stahl in 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,' took a more prominent role."
"T4's story, by David Campbell Wilson, John Brancato and Michael Ferris, focuses on John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s,
as he leads what is left of the human race against the machines."
"The role of Marcus, a Terminator robot model that predates the robot killer originally played by
Schwarzenegger, has yet to be cast."
"Halcyon's Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson are producing with Moritz Borman."
"Bale, repped by Endeavor, is currently filming Warner's 'Batman Begins' sequel, 'The Dark Knight.' McG, repped by Endeavor
and Management 360, directed the football drama 'We Are Marshall' for Warners and the 'Charlie's Angels' movies for Columbia."

"John Connor won't just be back. He'll also be bat."
"The Dark Knight himself, Christian Bale, has signed on to star as the heir to the cyborg-battling rebellion in Terminator
Salvation: The Future Begins, the long-awaited fourth installment in the Terminator franchise."
"While details on the film's plot have been kept under tight wraps, per the Hollywood Reporter, the action this time around
will follow Connor, now in his thirties, leading the remainder of the human race in its ever-worsening battle against the
machines."
"However, reports have also been circulating that Bale's role, despite the party tag line, will not be as leading as it seems
and that while Connor will indeed lead the rebellion, the next batch of films will actually feature a
different character at the center of the action."
"Taking on a smaller part in the series would seemingly make sense for Bale, who will no doubt need to devote increasing
amounts of time to the revamped Batman franchise in future years."
"Size of the part aside, Bale will join the ranks of previous Connor channelers Edward Furlong and Nick Stahl, both of whom
played the character in T2 and T3, respectively."
"Earlier this year the Halcyon Company, which produces the Terminator flicks, announced it would be reviving the blockbuster
series with at least three new installments. Rather than picking up where Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines left off, however,
the fourth installment will instead mark the beginning of a new trilogy."
"Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins has already been fast-tracked for production, with producers looking to get the film
in theaters by summer 2009, when its premiere will coincide with the release of a new Terminator video game."
"Their haste in pushing the film into theaters is understandable as the franchise has so far grossed just over $1 billion since
the first Terminator was released in 1984."
"This time around, McG will direct the flick, which will be released by Warner Bros."

"The rumors have raged for the past few weeks but Hollywood Insider can now confirm that Christian Bale is set to star in the
Terminator reboot... Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins."
"Bale will take on the John Connor role with McG directing and Halcyon producing for Warner Bros. One source tells HI that the
story line is a big departure from the originals starring Arnold Schwarzenegger."
"Details are being kept so close to the vest that only a very few people have read the last ten pages of the script. All we know
is that Bale is one valuable commodity to those folks at Warners. (A studio spokesperson had no comment,
other than to say that Salvation isn't set yet, meaning it has not been officially greenlit.)"
Mmm...
Gossip travels fast on the web and every site gives its own twist to the stories. This was bad when T3 was slated to be shot, but
somehow this is even worse with the rumours around the new Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins movie(s). Could this have
something to do with the shitty title? Or that nothing is being confirmed (nor denied) by the official studios and executive
producers behind the series? Your guess is as good as ours, at the moment.
Terminator 4? We're game! Bale as John Connor would do fine!? Who is this Marcus figure? Has the movie been green-lit or not?
Is it really under pre-production in Hungary (as mentioned earlier on our site)?! Lots of questions remaining. Lets hope some
(or all) of it is confirmed, so we know where we stand.
Thanx to forum-member 'Timerider84' for the cool Bale T4 image!
