Edward Furlong back for Terminator 4?
|
|
|
Rumours have it that Edward Furlong is to return as the savior of mankind in the slated Terminator 4 movie. Your guess is
as good as ours at this primature point in time. And what do we have to think about this latest rumour? Well... the most
important part of that sentence being the rumour bit. Non-the-less its still interested in mentioning on our Terminator
related site and its sure to cock up some debates in our forums.
MovieHole.net reports...
I've been hearing this for the past couple of months too, but brushed it off assuming it's either Furlong himself spreading
the rumours and/or his new wife – who's aware the mortgage payment is due – or a 200-pound "Terminator 2" fan that loathes
casting switcheroo's.
But maybe, just maybe, there is something to it and with whispers that Nick Stahl isn't keen on returning to the role, who
else would you consider than Furlong? He is, after all, the original whiny chum-of-cyborg. And with Schwarzenegger gone,
you're gonna want some link to the original series aren't you? (though, in my opinion, I'd go for Michael Biehn – it's time
we caught up with Kyle Reese again; and don't give me the 'but he's dead' line).
Someone – again, this could be fuckin' Furlong himself - tells Aint it Cool that they've checked in with Edward Furlong's
agent and the word is : Furlong is back as John Connor for "Terminator 4".
Firstly, I didn't know it was a sure-thing that Connor was going to be in the new "Terminator"? I got the impression that it
was either going to concentrate on a new bunch of characters being hunted down by a new metal-skulled fiend, or, fix on some
of the soldiers that are fighting the good fight in the future. Either way, we've been told that "T4" will be the start of a
new trilogy. That Schwarzenegger will not be a part of it. And that it'll probably – yeah OK, I made this bit up – be nowhere
near as good as the original trilogy and as a consequence, fans will demand the series renamed to "Killer Robots" for DVD.
So what do you guys think? Does Furlong deserve a second chance at playing nice with the "Terminator" crowd? or should the
producers just cut their losses and cast the skinny chump from "Sarah Connor Chronicles" in the part?
