Sarah Connor Chronicles green-lit
|
|
|
A trusted source connected to MGM has informed TerminatorFiles today that the Terminator TV-series 'The Sarah Connor
Chronicles' (SCC in short) pilot has been green-lit. A pilot series is thus in the making, which for industry standards
normally takes about 6 episodes. As far as our source could reveal, the first two episodes are being filmed as we speak.
When initial photography is done these episodes will be presented to several (executive) officers at Warner Bros. TV (or
maybe even any other interested TV stations), after which a further series development is either officially green-lit or
trashed alltogether. A sentence comes to mind: "There's no fate but what they make."
As reported earlier, both the title character and her son have been cast. Lena Headey helms the series named after the
main character, closely followed by Thomas Dekker as John Connor. There have also been reports about another character
cast for the series.
According to ComingSoon.net actor Richard T. Jones (Event Horizon, Collateral) will play a FBI-agent in persuit of Sarah
and John, who have been on the run for the government since the events that happened in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Jones has already played in series like 'CSI: Miami' and will also play a role in the upcoming Pete Travis series
'Vantage Point'.
Of course... a green-lit project can always be canceled again, but with casting calls and characters set, it looks as if
this project may go foward. Then again, it could be that Warner Bros. TV executives or other parties are not interested
in the contents of the series or how The Sarah Connor Chronicles writer and director want the franchise to continue.
A possible totally green-lit series also has some pointers to it. We fans are presented with new stuff and it could lead
into the making of the rumored and often gossiped about Terminator 4 movie. Since the release of the Terminator 3: Rise
of the Machines movie, the fans are still devided, even more so with a series coming along which depicts our saviors
between two movies.

As we've done on some prior occassions... we at TerminatorFiles.com would like to take this chance and conveigh our main
concern to the writer(s) and producer(s) of their new planned endeavor:
"If the series is true to the storyline portrayed in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, there is no room for Terminators
or resistance fighters sent back from the future. Non of the characters in T3 have ever seen anyone being sent back in time
prior to the events taking place in the T3 movie. Nor do they know about the existance of the future in any possible
timeline."
"John Connor already stated this to the T-850 Terminator: 'You shouldn't excist!'. Sure... Both main characters did not feel
safe since the ending of the T2 movie. John is on the run for his personal believes. And although Sarah's coffin was filled
with guns and she might not have believed it to be over... this also portrays that she did not know it was not over. Thus...
none of the characters can (or will?) have had contact with any resistance fighter, or Terminators alike, since in T3 its
their first contact again."
From that viewpoint, it is not possible to make this series contain any future elements, since no Terminators or resistance
fighters have been seen. Nor the possible threat of this so called Skynet virus thingie, which they also only came to know
when the events of T3 started. Well... maybe the only other possible threat would be the FBI agent on their trail. But without
any future involvement (be it resistance fighters or Terminators sent back) it would easily become somewhat boring.
Then again... the series could also depict a total different story (or time-) line, like for instance the still popular T2:3D
Universal attraction. We fans might need to concider not taking any of the series contents true to the main storyline as
depicted in the movies. Or the producers make the series for the more general public and the fans are sidetracked (again?!).
This does not mean we are against a TV series. Any continuation of the Terminator saga is way up our wishlist! But let it be
a good one at that! Thats the most important word... It really has to be good material if its going to sustain and take
its rightfull place in the Terminator saga... or at least thats what we think about it.
Soo... what will it be(come)? A continuation of the main story or a total seperate entity? We are on the case and hope to
know something soon!
