Chad Campbell is back!
|
|
|
Appearently we aint roaming the net that much searching for news, since we are full-fledged busy with updating to a new site.
But over at TAFs, there is a interesting interview with Terminator fan Chad Campbell. Most might remember (and in some cases
hate) him from his efforts to get a T3.5 movie project going on, Randy Jennings from TAFs backing him up with the idea. But
there is more; he's doing a T4 script(revision), storyboards and what not more.
The TerminatorFiles.com team has been in close contact with Chad, and we talked a lot about the upcoming scripts, imagery and
lots of other tidbits we are not going to mention. Since Randy Jennings from TAFs is his main supporter, he prefers to launch
the news through the TAFs website. We respect this totally, but can't help wonder about the fact that something Terminatorish
as this is not mentioned on a Terminator only site... first!
Well... people just have other views on this, and thats a good thing, or the world would be a boring monotone place to live
in ;).
Still... since this is totally Terminator related, we copied their entire article for you to view. And be sure to check into
our forums to discuss these developments with our other
so called 'die-hard fans'.
TAFs:
A few rumors are beginning to circulate once more that T4 is being pushed forward. The last thing we need is for T4 to be
another PRESENT DAY protector mission without the returning cast members that we know and love. The fans will not accept
any T4 script that is not at least 80 percent taking place in the future. One of the biggest Terminator fans on the planet,
Chad Campbell, is back - ready to shake an angry first at the producers, writers and the studio!
Chad Campbell stops by, he has been very busy for the past 6 months, and wants to explain some things to the fans out there
regarding his dream projects. He also shares with us an early concept poster image created by Mind Vacanacy.
TAFs: I see you are back! What is up with T3.5 and T4?
CC: Well I have continued to update T3.5 a lot, and maybe will show some scenes to the fans, to see what I’m talking about.
As for T4, I have finally started writing the script, for the past year I have been writing hundreds of notes, and outlines,
finally I have a story that will explain it all, and bring the fans what they want.
TAFs: We hear that T4 is being pushed forward quickly. What do you think?
CC: I think we still have a long time to wait, I remember for 8 years hearing so much news about T3, it takes a while for
anything to happen. All the rumors spreading about I take with a grain of salt. And the Cameron one is absolutely false.
Randy and I have an insider and he actually spoke to Cameron a while ago, and he laughed at the news of that. It won’t
happen, so they need to get some one who understands Cameron’s work, and get a fresh outlook on things. Because if they
don’t T4 will not make that much money.
TAFs: So right now your focus is on T4?
CC: Yea, I really am trying to get it done by January. I have a concept artist who is doing sketches for me right now,
bringing some of my scenes to life. Which I hope to post some of the rough sketches soon. And while I thought of T4 I
made sure I fulfilled certain things. SUCH AS:
- Not just another protector/assassin mission, and no newer models of Terminator. We will see the old models,
SKYNET’s early designs.
- This will have Arnold in it, a little during the second act and through out the third act. His character is
very important, but different then ever before, we see him interact in his world, so things are not as humorous
as they use to be.
- We see a dramatic war story, I first created the characters before anything else, then a thick story to tie
everything together, but at the same time, the general audience will be able to follow. And there is a cool
twist on how they destroy SKYNET.
TAFs: Why are you attempting your own T4 script?
CC: Well simple, T3 was a great movie, but not that great, Mostow is a superb director, but the writing aspect of it was
not that great. See the thing is the studios want to make a T4, T5, and T6. Well any real fan would think that is quite a
dumb idea. Because of one thing, Schwarzenegger, he is getting older, and there should just be one last Terminator movie to
end it all. Without Schwarzenegger it’s like watching an Adult Film with no sex in it just does not work.
That and the studios are just pushing this forward too quickly, if you go on most movie forums minus the Terminator fan
sites, most people are laughing all ready at the idea of a T4, so what do you think they will like a T5 too? So the General
Audience is loosing interest, so we might as well make one BIG BANG for an ending, and make it count.
The script I am writing will bring back what made the first two films great, I have been working for years on it, and
listening to what hardcore fans wanted, and did not want, as well as I listened to myself. I was not going to create a war
story unless I had some cool twists that I could add.
I just hope the Executives will listen to me, we want Quality over Quantity, not 3 more movies, just make one more, and put
all the money into that. Wait for Arnold to be done with office, and put him in the film as a lead. People are all ready
laughing at T4, and with out Arnold, how does Warner Brothers think they will make any profit? Especially with many fans
upset of the fact that they are making a NEW Terminator…oh come on, that trick is getting way too old.
TAFs: What about T3.5. What’s the progress?
CC: I believe I revealed that way too early in its development, but I am making a major re-write soon. I really hope this
can take off, show the people that the studios can go back and fix a movie that should have been so much more. I get the
inspiration from Star Wars, in what George did to his classics, but this will be even better because T3 is really not
considered a classic, and we are fixing what should have been done initially.
TAFs: Why do you want to end the series with T4?
CC: I believe heavily in Quality over Quantity. Any more it seems movie makers just want to pump out a million sequels
but to do so it seems they have to water them down to keep the story going. To me Terminator should have ended with T3, it
could of if it was done right, but I can’t change that. You always have to give interest to the audience and now as most know
Terminator 4 will be in the future wars, the decaying earth. And though the world is very different, I think after one movie
of all the ruins of the world, people will get bored of it and grow tired of the same thing. I don’t want to have Independence
Day things where we see big monuments destroyed. It’s too cliché’ there are millions of people that do not get to see these
great monuments always shown in movies where the world has been destroyed, so I wanted to show the everyday things that
everyone around the world sees, and show them veiled in darkness. To me any more audiences can sense when a movie is just
trying to milk itself for all it’s worth. Let’s make the last chapter the best one.
TAFs: Anything you would like to say to the movie makers themselves?
CC: Yes. I want to work with them, help them make this the best movie possible. Too much any more movie makers just start
making a sequel with out even watching the one preceding it. Hollywood sometimes gets so political they forget to make a
good movie. I think some outside help, and the help of a huge fan would be best. I still want Mostow to direct this film,
but I would love to be a huge part by telling the story. So guys if you’re out there listening, I may not have a track
record, but my ideas have won over most who have heard them. I really hope we can work together, and make the best movie
possible.
Chad Campbell will be back soon with more Mind Vacanacy artwork to share and perhaps to share some more wrath! After all,
until we hear that T4 will take place roughly entirely in the future and that Arnold, Stahl and the other cast will return,
we strongly encourage the wrath of all fans worldwide!
TF remark:
The title War Against the Machines was first cocked up by Terminator fan Gavdin, for his miniatures wargame (check
this for reference). Now,
we are not saying he has the sole copyright over the sentence, since lots of other around that time came up (or copied) this
to their own sites and ideas... but it is kind of strange to see this become the same title for a possible T4 poster for the
Chad Campbell script (not to mention an official site like TAFs coming along with it). Or maybe this is a coincidence. Just
wanted to point it out to ya people.
PS: in case you read this Gavdin, contact us about the status of your project!
