With such upcoming teen attractions as The Matrix Reloaded, Terminator 3, Bad Boys 2, American Wedding, and Freddy vs. Jason, all of which are rated R, theater owners are preparing to make an extra effort to police their ticket buyers, the Los Angeles Times observed today (Monday).

"It creates problems for us, in that we are going to continue to enforce the age limits," Jerry Pokorski, executive vice president of Pacific Theaters, told the Times. The Times quoted several teens as saying that they intended to see the R-rated product with their parents this summer.

But Paul Dergarabedian, head of Exhibitor Relations, commented to the newspaper: "An R rating restricts a large portion of the audience. ... And anything that restricts the number of people coming to your movie is seen as a negative." However, he added, "This summer could change the perception in Hollywood of how well R movies can do."
